Become A Medical Cannabis Patient

Step One: Schedule Your Telemedicine Appointment
First, you must contact a doctor who is registered with the Medical Use of Marijuana Program in MA and schedule a telemedicine appointment. This means that a doctor can certify you for your medical cannabis card over the phone if you have a qualifying medical condition. You can schedule this appointment by calling a registered doctor, visiting the link on our home page, or clicking the button below. A qualifying medical condition according to the state of Massachusetts means anything from anxiety, insomnia, migraines, nausea, and many more to cancer, glaucoma, positive status for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), hepatitis C, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Crohn’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis (MS), when such diseases are debilitating, and other debilitating conditions as determined in writing by a Qualifying Patient’s healthcare provider. As long as your condition is approved by your qualifying doctor, you are able to get your medical card.

Step Two: Register with the State
After your telemedicine appointment, you’ll be certified over the phone and have your state registration approved instantly via the Initial Access Program. If approved, you will receive your Initial Access Certification card from your certifying doctor, which acts as a temporary card for 14 days with a 2.5oz limit. This will give you access to BeWell Merrimac that same day! You will also receive an email from the MA Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) with instructions on how to register for the Medical Use of Marijuana Program through the MASS CIP Portal, you must complete this registration to receive your official medical card. This email will have a special personalized PIN, which is required to register. Enter your personal PIN code and upload all necessary documentation (government-issued ID – license, state ID, or passport) to your account through the MASS CIP Portal. Fill in all required fields and be sure to review it for accuracy before submitting your application. After registering, print your temporary paper program ID card, which you can use to access BeWell Merrimac. You will receive your official card in the mail once it is ready. When you receive your certification, it is important to take note of the expiration date, most cards expire 1 year after the date of approval, but some may expire earlier.

Step Three: Order Online and Visit Our Dispensary
Place your order online through our online shop, wait for a text confirmation telling you your order is ready to be picked up, bring your medical card with you, and pick up your order at BeWell Merrimac the same day you get your card.
